The removal of illegally
constructed religious places was initiated by the District Administration in coordination
with the different religious heads of various religions and the general public. The matter
was discussed with them, in details, in the presence of leaders of political parties
of that area and the government officials. They were provided with the information of
illegally constructed religious places and were made to understand
the problems being created and the advantages of having them removed. A Writ
Petition WP 2214/05 was filed in the High Court of M.P. with regard to the demolishing of
the religious places constucted on the Govt. land or on the land owned by the Cantt. Board
or by the Jabalpur Development Authority. The High Court in its decision dated 9/12/2005
passed instructions that all the religious places causing inconvenience to the general
public in a large scale should be demolished taking into account the religious emotions of
the people and with the close coordination of the related religious Communities. Demarcation of illegally constructed Religious places
TA list of such religious places was prepared by
the various organisation. There were 171 religious places on the Nazool land, 325 on JDA land and 34 on cantt. Board land. In this way
566 religious places were identified to have been illegally constructed. The respective SDM's, CSP's, TI's, Tehsildars and the
other government staff were instructed to collect detailed information about these places.
The information including the date of construction of the place, number of people
associated with it, the main representatives etc. These people were contacted separately
and were made to understand the impact and usefulness of the demolishing of the structure
and their moral support was obtained. |
